Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Alcatraz is one of San Francisco's most fascinating attractions. Alcatraz is open every day except Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Ferry departures are every half hour starting at 9:00am. Hours vary with the season.

Experience the mysteries of Alcatraz on the thrilling Evening Tour. As the evening ferry ride to Alcatraz circles the island, you’ll hear live narration about the history of Alcatraz. Then you take a guided tour from the dock to the cell house level and hear gripping tales about the Island's history and infamous residents. The Alcatraz Night Tour offers special guided tours, activities and cell door demonstrations not available during the day tour. Where does the Alcatraz Ferry depart from?


Alcatraz Cruises departs from the Hornblower Alcatraz Landing at Pier 33 near Fisherman’s Wharf. There are 15 commercial parking lots within a five-block radius of Pier 33, so parking is easy.
