San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Housed in a sleek, contemporary building near downtown, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presents innovative and though-provoking modern and contemporary art with a focus on the 20th century. SFMOMA features an impressive collection of 27,000 artworks in a myriad of forms, including sculpture, painting, photography, architecture and design - from contemporary paintings by Andy Warhol and Mark Rothko to art on canvas by Henri Matisse. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art offers dynamic exhibitions and special presentations that inspire, as well as audio guides, docent tours, films, live performances, and artist talks. SF MOMA Collections

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s collection of modern and contemporary art includes more than 27,000 works in painting, sculpture, photography, architecture and design, and media arts from around the world. The collection boasts spectacular examples of Modernism and Surrealism, as well as contemporary works that reflect artistic developments happening regionally, nationally, and around the world. Marvel at art by Salvador Dali, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, René Magritte and Henri Matisse in the permanent collection.

A dynamic art center where you can learn, reflect, and be inspired, the Museum offers many traveling exhibitions with modern and contemporary art. SFMOMA also features a wide range of special events, including gallery talks, artist discussion panels, live music, stage presentations, films and book signings. Are there free days at the Museum?


SFMOMA offers Free Tuesdays offering free museum admission on the first Tuesday of every month. The museum also offers free docent-led tours every day except Wednesdays with changing topics. Offered three times a year, Free Family Days provide a free cultural experience for your family with fun activities, exhibitions, performances, films, and book readings. You can also join the Mods, a new club for kids.

Is there dining at the museum?


Caffè Museo offers a relaxing, modern dining ambiance with fresh, organic Mexican/Yucatan cuisine, including grilled seafood, steak and chicken dishes, Panini, tortas, quesadillas and salads. The café is open daily (except Wednesdays) from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and until 9 p.m. on Thursdays. Stop by the Blue Bottle Coffee Bar for freshly-brewed coffee drinks and art-inspired cakes and desserts created in the rooftop kitchen.
