San Francisco Vacation

Very nice hotel and atmosphere. The rooms were not air conditioned but the staff provided fans. Breakfast was available and was good. Staff was very pleasant. Shuttle provided to and from the airport

Quirky hotel

Location: virtually a block away from Japan center, with good choice of Japanese restaurants (note - best places are outside, some have queue and waiting lists). About 10 min drive/ 20 min walk to the Union Square, less than 10 min walk to Vann Ness cable car station. Not central, but very convenient if you plan to drive around. Hotel has a parking lot, with $30 per day charge which is reasonable for SF. Rooms, common area, decor: quite decent and tasteful for a 3* hotel, common area is very nice with period furniture, plentry of seating near the fire, imposing staircase. Generally better than hotel rating suggests and reasonably spacious. We had a room facing side street which was reasonably quiet, and with 2 queen beds and table with armchairs still did not feel cramped. Bathroom is dated but clean and room was made up every day. We also had a fridge - handy for jet lagged kids who wake up before 5am asking for food. Heater was quite noisy. Breakfast: very average, either go for cereal or make yourself waffles. Coffee not great, but you can make a tea from selection of packaged teas. Coffee and tea available 24/7, 4pm to 6pm also some sherry and cookies in the sitting room. Service: cheerful and non intrusive, could not ask for more. Overall pleasant experience and is a good value proposition for SF in high seaso

Exceptional stay

Great location, impeccably clean & attentive staff! Would come back in a heartbeat. Additionally, I found this hotel quite affordable relative to other hotels in San Francisco that were, quite frankly, overpriced
